Apple has successfully launched the iPhone, which is also probably their most important launch in the company's history. You can expect companies to model their own product launches after the iPhone's success. Apple's successful product planning, media spin, hype, secrecy was brilliant. More than 500,000 of the phones were sold this weekend alone. Insanity. Apple expects to sell 10 million in its first year. That's quite a challenge...
It'll be interesting to see how the iPhone continues to be accepted. Obviously, it's been accepted - but will people continue shelling out $500-$600 six-months from now when the hype is no longer evident? As a Blackberry user, the iPhone really doesn't appeal to me. I think it's incredibly classy and if it offered the features of my current phone, then I'd switch in a heartbeat. But I'm not willing to pay more for fewer features and inferior service, and I don't think I'm alone.
